ADR is an active IRS Section 501(c)(3) nonprofit charity that advocates for disabled Americans responsible use of prescribed medical assistance animals including Service Dogs and Emotional Support Animals in situations of reasonable accommodation (employment/housing), public access (retail stores, restaurants, etc.) and travel (airlines, public transit, etc.). ADR believes that education is the key to understanding, working closely with businesses, groups and individuals on nondiscriminatory requirements which prohibit exclusion, segregation and unequal treatment for disabled Americans using medical assistance animals. We support the full compliance with all related national and local laws including the Americans with Disability Act (ADA, 42 U.S.C. §§ 12101), the Fair Housing Act (FHA, 42 U.S.C. §§ 360), the Air Carrier Access Act (ACAA, 49 U.S.C. § 41705) and the Rehabilitation Act (29 U.S.C. § 791, 793, 794). ADR strongly discourages the fraudulent representation of any personal pets as a protected medical assistance animal. ADR does not offer database registration for assistance animals. Any online registration available anywhere guarantees the user with zero legal protection and without valid professional medical credentials is a case of disability fraud.
