The Moroccan Association of Toronto was founded on November 8, 2001, by eight Moroccans residing in Toronto. Since its inception, the association has provided an honorable and positive representation of the Moroccan community in Toronto while fostering a spirit of solidarity and promoting the identity and heritage of the homeland. The association has also been a key player in cultural exchange between Canada and Morocco. The efforts of the Moroccan Association of Toronto have been recognized and applauded by several government, non-governmental, and community partners in Morocco and Canada. In fact, the AMDT had the honor of receiving a royal letter from His Majesty King Mohammed VI. The association has also been awarded the Best Community Project by the Trillium Foundation. The reputation and influence of the association place it in a privileged position within the Toronto nonprofit landscape, especially among Francophone organizations in Ontario. We continue to write shining chapters in the history of the integration of Moroccans in Toronto into their host country, and we aspire to make AMDT a leading association representing Morocco, Africa, and the Francophonie.
