Privately owned and operated, American Security has grown from an entrepreneurial start-up in 1975 to become one of the largest Southeastern-based security firms with over 3,500 personnel.
The company currently provides security services for manufacturing, headquarters, healthcare, and commercial clients in Kentucky, Georgia, Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. Much of this growth has come at the request of existing clients to serve as regional contractor. Many of these clients operate in environments where industry-specific certifications and/or federal and state agency regulations are a critical element of daily operations. The company’s philosophy is to provide a superior level of service, understanding that high levels of service result in long term partnerships. American Security has provided security service to many publicly held national and international companies for over three decades. There is a clear connection between consistent delivery of services and dedicated, ethical work practices.
American Security offers in-depth expertise in the full range of security related functions. Many members of management have law enforcement experience including the State Law Enforcement Division, SC Highway Patrol, local law enforcement and the FBI. Within this group are strong investigative resources, personal protection experience for high-profile government and corporate officials, risk evaluation and management. Fire fighting and EMT expertise are included within this group. American Security can meet any of these requirements through existing in-house resources. In addition to the resources listed above, American Services has the full complement of human resource, safety, risk management, finance, and training functions in-house.
In August of 1997, American Security of Greenville, LLC merged with its sister organizations ACI Janitorial, LLC and Action Staffing Services, LLC to form a full service organization known as American Services, Inc. American Services provides security, janitorial, and staffing. This incorporation of companies has enabled American Services to fulfill a variety of clients’ outsourcing needs.
The merger of these three service companies into one organization provides a greater mix of services under a single corporate umbrella, but the company’s core ownership has not changed. The company remains a tightly held private company with its founder, Henry Harrison, serving as chairman. With this ownership structure anticipated to continue well into the future, American Services makes its decisions as it always has: earning business that it can maintain over the long term.
