A Million Thanks is a national nonprofit organization committed to honoring and supporting the United States military community—active duty, reserve, and veteran military—through the power of handwritten letters.
Founded in 2004 with a simple idea and a big heart, A Million Thanks has grown into a nationwide movement with one clear mission: to bridge the gap between those who serve and those who care. Over 21 million letters have been sent to service members around the world, each one filled with hope, encouragement, and gratitude.
We believe small acts of kindness can make a powerful impact—especially when they arrive at the right time. Whether someone is stationed overseas, stateside, transitioning home, or recovering from visible or invisible wounds, receiving a bundle of personal letters can provide strength and connection in a deeply human way.
Through generous donations and volunteer involvement, we’re able to continue this mission at no cost to those we serve. Every $1 donated helps us cover the cost of postage, materials, and letter processing.
