Afghan Medical Institute for Women - AMIW

Afghan Medical Institute for Women is a multipurpose medical institute for women’s reproductive health, with a vision of “advancing and promoting women’s reproductive health” by covering three main factors: Providing quality and advanced reproductive health care services for women, capacity building and public awareness programs. AMIW's policy advice provides technical support to strengthen the framework and mechanism to achieve long-term impacts. Its research and public awareness policy would not only benefit Afghans in Herat but also at the country level and as well as Afghans living all outside of Afghanistan. Reducing maternal mortality rate, generalization of cancer screening, public guidance and encouragement on using modern family planning and contraceptive methods, providing advanced reproductive health medical services, training and educating reproductive healthcare workers, policy-making and public awareness through multiple platforms would have a potential impact on reproductive health outcomes not only in Herat province but the western zone of Afghanistan.
