Amokabel Australia Pty Ltd was founded in 2020 as a result of Amokabel’s investment in new generation covered conductor solutions for the Australian market. In 2022, Amokabel continued its investment in Australia by purchasing Euro-Tech Cables, a high quality Australian manufacturer of special cables. The company is based in Sydney and produces special cables locally, as well as having access to the full range of products and services on offer from the global Amokabel Group. In 2023, the company continued its investment in Australia by doubling its local manufacturing capability. One of the strengths of Amokabel Australia is its ability to provide cable sheathing for a variety of applications, such as termite protection. The Covered Conductor solution developed by Amokabel for Australia/New Zealand has now been deployed successfully in Victoria, New South Wales and Tasmania. It is highly effective at increasing network reliability and resilience and reducing fire risk. CSIRO research from 2017 has found that the fire risk reduction from using Covered Conductor is between 98.4% and 99.0%, which is comparable to undergrounding at 99.1%. As Covered Conductor can be installed for less than one quarter of the cost of undergrounding, this makes Covered Conductor by far the most cost-effective bushfire risk reduction technology available today.
