Trading under University of Birmingham Enterprise (UBE Ltd), we offer the following services to the high value manufacturing sector: • Advanced manufacturing services: additive layer manufacturing using selective laser melting and direct laser deposition, and powder hot isostatic pressing services. •Metallurgical assessment and characterisation of AM and HIPped materials: microstructural and mechanical properties characterisation using electron microscopy, and X-ray diffraction, tensile/compression testing of metallic materials. •Powder characterisation: characterisation of metallic powders for powder-based manufacturing applications (size measurement, microstructure, porosity, and chemical analysis). •Modelling: general finite element modelling/computational fluid dynamics to perform stress analysis for new products, or to use topology optimisation for the development of new design concepts.. •Technical consultancy: providing technical expertise in the areas of additive manufacturing, powder HIPping, friction joining, metal forming, and modelling. •Educational activities: providing courses to the industry on the use and application of additive manufacturing technologies.
