The Genetic Evaluation of Holstein Friesian animals is carried out by the Center for Research on Biodiversity and Genetic Resources of the University of Porto (CIBIO), which evaluates the production parameters and somatic cell count, and the Center for Animal and Veterinary Science of the The University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (CECAV), which performs the evaluation of morphological parameters, based on the data collected by the Regional Structures Supporting Dairy Cattle (ABLN and EABL), the farmers associations of the Autonomous Region of Azores and the Portuguese Association of Breeders of the Frisian Breed (APCRF) and are treated by the computer department of the National Association for the Improvement of Dairy Cattle (ANABLE).
Both the collection and processing of the data are carried out in accordance with the International Committee for Animal Recording (ICAR) standards.
