The legend of the international food phenomenon known as the Buffalo Chicken Wing began in 1964, when the industrious Teressa Bellissimo, owner of the now famous Anchor Bar restaurant in Buffalo, New York, whipped up a late night snack for her son and his friends using chicken wings (a throw-away cut used mostly for stocks and soups at the time) and a secret sauce invented on the fly.
Naturally, the wings were an instant hit and it didn’t take long for people to flock to the bar to experience this new taste sensation. From that evening on, Buffalo Wings became a regular part of the menu at the Anchor Bar.
Since then, the Buffalo Chicken Wing has spread across the globe, and although many have tried to duplicate Teressa's original recipe, none have ever truly succeeded. Come visit us at Anchor Bar and try the “Best Wings in the World."
