Antenna / Paper Machine

Antenna is a collectively run arts organization committed to being a vital participant in the life of New Orleans through the creation and support of artist- and writer-driven programs, particularly those with transformative approaches to affecting social justice. Paper Machine is Antenna's printing house and book bindery. Paper Machine is committed to making book arts and publishing accessible to the Gulf South’s artists, culture bearers, aid organizations, non profit organizations and underserved populations. We provide education, tools for printing, bookmaking and design as well as creative consultations, legacy preservation, and printing and publishing partnerships. Antenna/Paper Machine is committed to creating work environments that challenge policies and practices of systemic and institutional harm, inequalities, exclusion, and discrimination. In our work, we center practices of artmaking and creativity that advance equity and justice at work and within the broader community. Black, Indigenous, people of color, women, LGBTQGNC+, and people with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply. More about Antenna Since 2005, Antenna has served as a critical multidisciplinary art leader, pairing contemporary art, activism, collaborations, and place as sites of intervention, experimentation, and creative risk-taking. Antenna hosts a range of programs serving as an engagement hub of diverse communities and publics, presenting exhibitions, residencies, publications, grant opportunities, workshops, performances, gatherings, and public programming. As an independent artist-founded and centered institution, accountable to the communities that make our work possible, we are committed to moving art beyond the confines of galleries and museums, attending to the histories, communities, and ecologies of the region and their (trans)national implications, while reimagining artmaking for social change.
