We are making a simple blood test to differentiate and quantify nearly all pathogen genes in hospitalized patients. Pathogen DNA is detectable at early stages of infection, and by quantifying it over time, we aim to change how infections are managed at every phase of care.
The solution is “hidden in plain sight.” We enhance digital PCR hardware that hospitals are already starting to adopt with machine learning and programmable chemistry. Today, PCR tests have become routine but only for limited sets of pathogens. By making PCR both comprehensive and extremely sensitive, we will detect the range of pathogen genes at the "helix in the haystack" levels found in blood.
