Advanced Optical Communication Testbed (AOC Testbed)

The AOC testbed project is an initiative by the Department of Telecom to drive innovation and collaboration in next-generation optical communications and is led by Prof Deepa Venkitesh, Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM). The mission is to enable technologies for capacity scaling from Gbps towards Pbps, with the provision of a modular testbed with field installations to support > 1 Tbps with a pathway to 1 Pbps. The project promotes indigenous development – devices, sub-systems, and networks for the testbed, compliant to standards, and ready to market. It's driven by the consortium of 3 academic partners, 6 industry partners, and 1 R&D partner. The activities span across 19 work packages under 6 work domains broadly covering: 1. Access networks & Mobile front-haul 2. Metro & Longhaul networks 3. Free space optical links & LiFi 4. Quantum Security 5.
