The spark for A’Pelago was ignited in 2022 in the Finnish Archipelago, driven by a mission to Reclaim the Sea through science-based and impact-led business. Our vision is to support blue economy founders scale solutions that restore marine ecosystems and enable coastal regions to regenerate — ecologically, socially, and economically. Since its founding, A’Pelago has grown into a leading catalyst for the blue economy in the Baltic Sea region. Through a unique ecosystem of over 500 organizations and 1,500 professionals, A’Pelago has facilitated dozens of collaborations, hosted flagship events, supported early-stage ventures, and engaged researchers, entrepreneurs, and public actors in co-creating sea-positive impact. Today, the ecosystem operates across Finland through three core tracks. The A’Pelago Accelerator includes venture build-up programs, innovation labs, the Blue Economy Academy, and pitch opportunities. The A’Pelago Initiative serves as a platform for curated blue economy events. Meanwhile, A’Pelago Experience offers remote work venues embedded in the Finnish Archipelago. All of these tracks come together through Blue Connect, a year-round platform that brings the A’Pelago ecosystem into continuous dialogue, enabling open knowledge exchange and bold collaboration.
