APNF - Associação Portuguesa de Neurofibromatose

A Associação Portuguesa de Neurofibromatose (APNF) é uma instituição particular de solidariedade social sem fins lucrativos que reúne portadores de neurofibromatose (NF), familiares e amigos, e profissionais de saúde. A Neurofibromatose (NF) é uma doença genética e pode ocorrer, maioritariamente, sob duas formas: NF1 e NF2A NF é relativamente comum, sendo a NF1 mais frequente que a NF2. • Estima-se que cerca de 1 em cada 3,000 indivíduos nascem com NF1. – 2,5M no mundo inteiro, em Portugal mais de 3,000 • A NF2 é menos comum, estima-se que atinja 1 em cada 40,000 indivíduos. A missão da APNF consiste em reduzir o mais possível o impacto da NF na vida das pessoas com a doença. Para cumprir esta missão, cremos que é necessário atingir 4 grandes objetivos: • Apoiar pacientes, familiares e amigos • Divulgar a NF na sociedade • Contribuir para a descoberta de uma cura para a NF • Criar um centro multi-disciplinar de NF em Portugal _______________________________________________________ The Portuguese Association of Neurofibromatosis (APNF) is a private non-profit social solidarity institution that brings together neurofibromatosis (NF) patients, family and friends of sufferers, and health professionals. Neurofibromatosis (NF) is a genetic disease and can occur, mainly in two forms: NF1 and NF2. NF is relatively common, with NF1 being more frequent than NF2. • It is estimated that about 1 in 3,000 individuals are born with NF1. – 2.5M worldwide, with more than 3,000 in Portugal • NF2 is less common, it is estimated to reach 1 in 40,000 individuals. The mission of APNF is to reduce the impact that NF has on the lives of those who suffer from it. To fulfill this mission, we believe that it is necessary to achieve 4 major objectives: • Support* patients, along with their family and friends • Increase awareness of NF in society • Contribute to the discovery of a cure for NF • Create a NF multidisciplinary center in Portugal
