The Appalachian Warrior Foundation is an organization that assists our military veterans and related partners. The Appalachian Warrior Foundation, along with local communities helps support our servicemen and women with educational, employment and financial opportunities. In 2014, AWF created the Dr. Thomas L. Barnes Veteran Scholarship, who was the Dean of Students for 27 years at Wytheville Community College and a retired Naval Officer of 35 years. The scholarship provides financial support for student veterans and their families to continue their education at WCC (https://www.wcc.vccs.edu/barnes-scholarship-golf-tournament).
