Our core principles to avoid unnecessary disaster: ➣ Break down the tasks until they are small enough. Most of the mobile projects are not so different. Once the coding standard is established, even analyst can be thought how to break down common implementations to their respective equivalent in the code. ➣ Small tasks - easy to estimate & quicker progress updates ➣ Small commits - easy to review and find problems before the bug appears Our process highlights: ➣ Story Templates - We have standard application core. Everything else we need to estimate. We reverse-engineered our code for common tasks to see what exactly we do each time. Then we created templates for such stories. ➣ Story / Task breakdown - We like very small subtasks, which are easily developed, reviewed and estimated. Having majority of subtasks estimated below 2 hours can greatly reduce uncertainty related to the project progress. ➣ Well defined interface for each Task - Project Manager or Analyst break task down expecting that once all tasks are done, app is ready for publishing.
