Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) means that practically all the water is recovered from the wastewater and that the remaining waste can be shovelled onto a truck for final disposal. The ZLD market has grown rapidly due to global government regulations that compelled heavily polluting and water-intensive industries to go ZLD or face massive fines and ultimately be shut down.
Aquafortus’ ABXTM system is a novel liquid-to-liquid crystallizer that promotes the formation of salt crystals via a proprietary direct contact crystallization process using Aquafortus’ patented solutions, which are called the Aquafortus Absorbent and the Aquafortus Regenerant. The ABXTM system efficiently reduces highly concentrated brines to dry salt and produces clean water. The Aquafortus Absorbent can precipitate all salts commonly found in industrial wastewaters, including troublesome salts like lithium chloride.
The Aquafortus ABXTM system is the only known continuous and regenerable process that can wholly replace energy intensive Thermal Crystallizers in a ZLD treatment train.
