About AQUAMON project
AQUAMON is an Horizon EU project aims to develop an advanced holistic urban water monitoring and control system at the forefront of technological innovation for the timely and precise identification of all main sources of water pollution in the entire urban water cycle. By committing to the destination of a clean environment and zero pollution, AQUAMON aims to perform innovation activities towards: i. Securing high-quality drinking water using real-time and in-situ monitoring of physico-chemical and microbiological parameters ii. Reduce environmental and related public health impacts by building an advanced digital monitoring and decision-making system iii. Reduce the likelihood of flooding by integrating sewer and wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) control; iv. Safe bathing opportunities in urban recreational waters by establishing a smart water management system with (i) real-time and in-situ microbiology labs, (ii) early warning systems, and (iii) mobile applications to keep citizens and stakeholders informed v. Restoring our oceans, seas, and rivers by deploying unmanned vehicles across the water surface, underwater and air to collect real-time data measurements for comprehensive monitoring of water bodies and pollution levels; vi. Enhance sustainability to elevate wastewater quality to reuse standards, aligning with environmental considerations related to climate change to ensure safe human and ecological use; vii. Improving urban water quality monitoring management plans and regulation shaping by enabling data interoperability across the entire water cycle with trustworthy, cybersafe data sharing.
