As the legacy of a development aid project that just kept Going and Growing, the Civil Society Development Association - ARGO International uses our inherited knowledge to amplify the voices of the Global South, create new bridges and leverage local expertise to strengthen societies that are weak or most under threat. A member of the ARGO Consortium, ARGO Int is probably the first, and if not the only international organization inspired by a development aid project. With the knowledge and experience of working with some of the world’s most restricted and closed countries, ARGO Int exists to strengthen civic space in transitioning democracies and emerging economies. ARGO Int addresses development challenges from the policy and strategic planning levels, and rapidly mobilizes impact at the local level through our global alliances and networks on 5 continents in over 200 countries. By merging local and development knowledge, experience and expertise, ARGO Int.: - Efficiently plans and administers national, regional and international programs on social and economic development - Strengthens the capacity of civil society through networking, education, training, and dialogue - Encourages and promotes research, monitoring and evaluation, and engages in think tank activities as a situated-knower - Promotes and presents the interests of the ARGO Int’s members to the notice of local administration and authorities, international organizations and relevant bodies - Engages in ‘upward’ knowledge sharing, communication and advocacy. We are committed to doing our part in achieving the SDGs, especially targeting SDG 16 PLUS, for peaceful, just and inclusive societies. ARGO Int is a registered non-profit member organization, guided by an Advisory Committee and governed by a Board of Directors.
