Origins Our story begins in the early nineties, when the Castel Brewery began producing newly independent Georgia’s first national beer, Argo. Its clean refreshing taste, twinned with its spirit of independence, led to Argo becoming Georgia’s most popular beer brand. The story continues For the people of Georgia, fine beer is not just a drink - it’s a way of a life and a cornerstone of tradition. Whether celebrating or relaxing, Georgians put socializing at the heart of life. In 2012 Castel became known as Castel Georgia, reinforcing Argo’s proud heritage and traditions, as well as embracing European brewing technologies designed to increase productivity and make Argo beer taste even better. The future looks bright Roll forward to 2017. Argo is looking to the future with a new owner and a new name. Now called The Argo Brewing Company, the business is committed to major investment in the latest brewing technologies, bringing Argo in line with other leading international beer brands, and putting Georgia firmly on the map as one of the finest beer producers in Europe. It’s a win, win: Argo lovers can continue to enjoy their national beer and take pride in its heritage, while The Argo Brewing Company can continue to support Georgia’s economy, providing meaningful jobs for employees in its state of the art brewery in Georgia’s capital, Tbilisi.
