ARRAS is a fashion company that takes the responsibility of creating clothing in a non-exploitative system so that our consumers are able to make conscious choices easily. Arras’s backbone are our women artisans in Assam who create our premium Eri silk products entirely by hand. We are currently working with 30 such underserved women weavers in Bijoynagar and Boko in Assam, with an aim to make them financially independent and the drivers of change in their respective communities. The value of this indigenous 'Poor man's Silk', also known as Peace silk or Ahimsa silk led us to research on its first ever Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). We also partner with artisans in New Delhi for our signature hand block printed garments, inspired by our roots in Northeast India. Our goals are based on the premise of responsibly created fashion, to generate benefits for everyone along each step of the value chain. Our mission is aligned with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development with current focus on Goal 5: Gender Equality, Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth and Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production.
