Arthouse Asia Film Festival(A2F2) started screening films it wanted to support the type of, i.e., arthouse films, parallel to Kolkata International Filmwriting lab endorsed by Doab Uncut motion.
Till 2016, A2F2 has curated 200+ films out 12000+ submitted arthouse films. A2F2 has paid tribute to classic and renowned filmmaker as part of retrospective too. A2F2 aims to develop further its counterpart of screenwrting lab as a workshop attended by writer-producer couple together in the upcoming event in January 2020 in collaboration with Produire Au Sud and Institut Francais.
The general purpose of A2F2 is to promote Arthouse filmmaking in South Asian countries by providing support infrastructure in terms of finance and knowledge sharing and training. Its promotes exploring newer language of filmmaking which will be more ethnic and rooted in culture rather than following popular narratives. It is a democratic platform for filmmaking artists with freedom of choice and expression. It wants to generate a space for intellectual crossover and worldwide market of arthouse films.
Its promotes South Asian films to international festival and markets through collaboration with major entities.
