Artificial Intelligence Gambia Network (AI-GamNet)

Artificial Intelligence Gambia Network, shortened as AI Gambia Network (AI-GamNet), is a non-profit organization that seeks to consolidate the gains made in growing an Artificial Intelligence (AI), Data Science (DS), and Machine Learning (ML) (henceforth referred to as AI) community in The Gambia through the organization of successful Deep Learning IndabaXs (DLIXs) in The Gambia since 2019. The DLIXs are national versions of the main Africa-wide Deep Learning Indaba (DLI) conference, the largest annual AI/DS/ML gathering on the African continent. The DLI is a grassroots movement with the mission to strengthen African AI/DS/ML. It works towards the goal of Africans being not only observers and receivers of the ongoing advances in AI but active shapers and owners of these technological advances. The IndabaX events in The Gambia, like in other countries, have been experimenting with ways to grow and strengthen the national AI community, and to allow more people to contribute to the conversation. AI-GamNet will spearhead and expand these efforts going forward.
