The Wheatsheaf, Chilton Foliat

Although an inn with the name stood in Chilton Foliat as early as 1767, The Wheatsheaf that stands today, with its thatched roof and flint walls, was established in 1815 and has been serving loyal patrons ever since. The Wheatsheaf is a quintessential country pub boasting a sprawling beer garden furnished with benches and parasols in the summer months, as well as roaring log burners and intimate dining spaces in the winter. The surrounding area of the North Wessex Downs features rolling hills, muddy walks, and the River Kennet. The Wheatsheaf serves a curated selection of local beers and real ales, artisanal wines and premium spirits, as well as Great British pub grub by landlord and executive chef, MasterChef Champion 2020, Thomas Frake. After winning MasterChef, Thomas quit his job and began working as a chef in some of London's most renowned gastropubs; honing his craft and evolving his passion into a career before taking stewardship of The Wheatsheaf. Thomas' ethos is unwavering: to serve delicious, local and seasonal food. Each dish is inspired by Great British classic flavours and very simply presented, but executed with the love and respect that the ingredients deserve.
