About ASAH (The Association of Students of African Heritage)

The Association of Students of African Heritage was founded during the Autumn of 2006 by Erasmus University students Justine Bell, Aurelia N. S. Dagadu, Ali Nasir & Yves van Oel. Starting with 30 members in the 2006/2007 academic year, today ASAH has grown into a renowned association with over 200 members. In 2007 the association was officially registered at the Dutch Chamber of Commerce situated in Rotterdam. Primarily, the purpose of ASAH is to give students of African heritage a voice and representation, as well as to educate people on the opportunities and strengths that Africa holds in hopes of inspiring the younger generation to invest in our continent's future. We host a variety of events throughout the year including our annual African Business Day, this year this event is being named "ASAH Summit" and our theme is "Africa Into the Future". Other events with similar goals have been organized in the past such as “Africa Rising” that dealt with themes such as the framing of Africa by the media and more.
