About Asbestos & Hazardous Materials Management Conference
Blue Mountains City Council is pleased to announce the 2024 Asbestos and Hazardous Materials Management Conference, to be held on 17 - 18 October 2024 at the Fairmont Resort & Spa in the Blue Mountains. This important national event, with a special focus on front line asbestos safety management, will comprise a 2-day conference including a series of plenary sessions, workshops, and networking activities. This will be a hybrid event, giving delegates the opportunity to either attend in-person or to livestream the event. Asbestos safety management is a multifaceted issue which cuts across a range of policy and regulatory areas, involving all levels of government. The Conference will bring those on the front line of the asbestos management system together with those developing policy, and enforcing laws at the state and national level. Local governments often bear the brunt of the asbestos problem and face many challenges dealing with Australia’s asbestos legacy including managing waste facilities, cleaning up illegal dumping and dealing with asbestos materials following natural disasters. The conference will have a special focus on how to address these challenges. This conference is for anyone involved in the asbestos management system. It will particularly benefit those who are involved in asbestos safety management on the front line, and in turn, those who are responsible for setting the regulatory environment. This conference is for: • local government councils, shires and associations - middle management and operational staff • asbestos removal contractors • regulators • Federal, state and territory government agencies • asbestos assessors and surveyors • property managers • occupational hygienists • NGOs – asbestos disease support and advocacy groups, trade unions and industry bodies For more information, visit the conference website at https://www.asbestosconference.com.au/.
