More than 25 years after asbestos was banned in the UK, the risk of exposure to disturbed fibres remains high, and much of the population continues to be diagnosed with life-threatening illnesses every year. To date, more than 125,000 people have died as a result of asbestos-related diseases. Asbestos Information CIC is a group of asbestos professionals, collaborators and supporters who are campaigning to ensure asbestos-related risk data is better documented and more widely accessible for organisations and individuals across the UK – and instances of deaths and illnesses from exposure to asbestos are minimised through more robust analysis and management. We recognise the need for action – and we want to start by instigating more transparent conversations around the extent of asbestos and the dangers it presents.
