ASC Bio has developed a tissue engineered cartilage implant that will prevent the progression of osteoarthritis in the knee. Current treatments only address the symptoms of the disease by reducing pain and inflammation but do not stop or slow the progression of osteoarthritis. This creates a significant gap in the continuum of care for patients who are younger than 60 years old and not a suitable candidate for a total knee replacement.
ASC Bio intends to provide a single surgery solution that will completely regenerate the patient’s own cartilage back to its native, healthy state thus preventing the progression of OA and do this much earlier in the clinical diagnosis than other competitive products. We are raising $8M for a 22-month runway to transfer our bench protocols to our biopharmaceutical manufacturing partner and prepare us for first in-human clinical trials.
