About African Smart Cities Innovation Foundation (ASCIF)
The African Smart Cities Innovation Foundation (ASCIF) is to drive economic growth and improve the quality of life of people by enabling local area development and harnessing technology, especially technology that leads to Smart and Innovation outcomes. Area – based development will transform existing areas (retrofit and redevelop), including slums, in to better planned ones, thereby improving livability of the whole City. New areas (greenfield) will be developed around cities in order to accommodate the expanding population in urban areas. Application of Smart Innovation will enable cities to use technology, information and data to improve infrastructure and services. Comprehensive development in this way will improve quality of life, create employment and enhance incomes for all. Areas of Focus; - Organizing training programs for governors, local council members and municipal personnel. -Assisting state and local government in their development and provide guidance - To encourage the prevalence of good implementation examples and exchange of experience - Promoting cities development through innovative and technology processes - Engaging stakeholders both in Nigeria and across Africa continent in discussing the challenges and solutions - Organizing seminars, workshops, panels, technical visits about council/municipal abroad or in country - Promoting Smart Transport and Logistics Services - Cooperating and conducting joint projects with public institutions, universities and NGOs working in the field of area council/municipal work - Assisting the works of area councils/municipalities in the process of African Union, United Nations and assisting area councils/municipalities to benefit from African Union and United Nations grants and technical assistance. Involving relevant government agencies on the challenges facing communities and cities in Nigeria and across Africa with it’s solution through proper policy implementation.
