We are Asha Kiran Society (AKS), a not for profit organisation, established in 1991, based in Koraput District, Odisha State, India, registered under the Societies Act of 1860.
Asha Kiran Society (AKS) is located in the tribal heartland of Southern Odisha. The tribal lands is a breathtakingly beautiful but remote area, surrounded by rolling hills and pristine water bodies.
Asha Kiran Society works amongst indigenous tribal groups, a forgotten, gentle and hardworking people. However, a lack of access to basic education and medical facilities, archaic agricultural practices, and poverty means the tribals here have some of the highest morbidity and mortality indicators in India and in the World.
We have received funding from the United Nations, TATA Trusts, and various other foreign and domestic entities.
We also work with the representatives of the state government of Odisha and the central government of India.
We are a team of 20 Doctors, 150 staff members, 34 villages, and 160 farmers running a hospital with 40 beds and a private school with 200 children.
Our activities are diversified across 4 verticals:
• Primary Healthcare
• Education
• Agriculture
• Animal Husbandry
Our Hospital unit serves a population of 1.5 Million Tribal people with a doctor patient ratio of 1:13796.
Our School provides private school education to 200 Children.
Our Agricultural unit provides training to 160 farmers based in 34 villages and helps the villagers in taking their produce directly to the consumers, cutting out the middle men.
Our Healthcare unit reaches out to marginalized people in the mountains, helps in providing and monitoring healthcare progress among these population.
Our Animal Husbandry unit is actively working with the villagers and the farmers to take their produce collectively and effectively to the market.
Our organization's purpose is to enable the holistic development of marginalized communities in India and in due course of time, the neighboring parts of Southern Asia.
