Ashokan was founded in 1997 by a group of water industry engineers (and avid kayakers) who believed that buildings could use water more efficiently and wanted to make it happen. The founding goal of the company was to design and implement water conservation solutions for NYC’s large water guzzling buildings and to protect and preserve New York’s natural watersheds. With over twenty years of experience, Ashokan has developed and refined a four part strategy for water conservation. First, our team of engineers and auditors inspect your building and audit your water bill - analyzing consumption patterns and the accuracy of your mechanical systems. We then give you recommendations for more efficient water use, check for errors in your water bill, and suggest the best rate plan for your property. This process alone is known to save property owners tens of thousands of dollars. Second, Ashokan designs and installs a sub meter system and bills your tenants directly for their water use. In our experience, tenants who are held accountable for their water consumption use about 15% less water than those who are not. Third, Ashokan monitors your water usage for all units, gives you detailed reports on your consumption, and detects and fixes any leaks that could be costing you water and money. Finally Ashokan installs water conservation devices such as water sense fixtures and low flow toilets that will keep your water system efficient, affordable, and sustainable long into the future.
