Globally, about a third of all food produced for human consumption goes to waste. In Africa, the problem is even more severe. In South Sudan, for example, 40 to 50% of all food grown is wasted. Meanwhile, many people go hungry. It’s projected that around 7.7 million people will face severe food insecurity by 2025. We believe hunger and food waste are closely linked. If we reduce food waste, families will have more food to last longer and may even produce a surplus they can sell to cover other needs like school fees, healthcare, clothing, or better nutrition. The goal of our venture is to turn the resources God has given us into valuable products. We hope this can help change mindsets, from exporting raw materials to adding value locally and selling finished products that generate more income. Asili's vision is powerful yet simple: empower farmers to earn more and waste less, while keeping our environment clean and green.
