American Society for Microbiology Student Chapter of University of Dhaka

American Society for Microbiology (ASM) is one of the most prestigious organizations in the world that works to promote and advance the microbial science. In addition to providing a platform for scientific discovery, building health systems & laboratory capacity, ASM also aims at operating global outreach programs in order to get young people interested in microbiology. ASM Student Chapter of University of Dhaka (ASM-DU) is the first to be inaugurated in Bangladesh. Being the first of its kind, it holds significant importance with lots of scopes & opportunities. An internationally recognized organization like ASM will help seal the gap existed among Life Science students by providing a scientific platform and bringing the talented young minds to the same table. The objective of this student chapter is to promote microbiology & life science through the network of this chapter, to enlighten students about the advancements and the current research in Life Science, to make networks and to equip them with skills like leadership, public speaking, presentation etc. Among the activities, ASMDU plans to organize weekly ASM-Talk, seminars on bioscience topics, workshops for skill development, publishing magazines, attending schools & colleges to promote microbiology, campaigning on public health concerns, raising awareness.
