ASME is a non-profit professional organisation that enables collaboration, knowledge sharing and skill development across all engineering disciplines while promoting the vital role of engineers in society. It is a promotional association that in its own words “promotes the art, science and practice of multi-disciplinary engineering and applied sciences around the globe” by “continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research conferences and publication, government relations etc. It is an engineering society, a standards organization, research and development organization, lobbying organization, provider of training and education and a non-profit organization.”
