India Chapter is one of the most active chapters of ASM International. Established in the year 1979, by a visionary Dr. H.M. Mehta along with a handful of dedicated volunteers. It has been continuously pursuing the mission of ASM of collecting and disseminating knowledge on Materials & Processes. This is being done through technical courses on subjects like Metallurgy for the Non-Metallurgists, Failure Analysis, Metal forming, Heat Treatment, Welding, Non-ferrous metals, Thermal spraying etc. Yet another activity started in the year 1990, is organizing the Exhibition Heat Treat Show, which has also become a trade mark of the chapter and is looked forward to eagerly by the heat treating and related industry. The show is being held biennially. Other activities include arranging Conferences, Workshops, and Exhibitions on recent developments in Material Processing, Material Application Engineering, Equipment etc.
