Assanka Ltd was founded in 2003. It provided web development services for clients, predominantly in the Finance and Media sector. In these projects, Assanka established ways of using new HTML5 technologies which ultimately resulted in the creation of the FT Web App. It was acquired in late 2011 by the Financial Times, and became FT Labs.
