A*STAR’s Institute of Bioengineering and Bioimaging (IBB) spearheads multi-disciplinary, application-driven research at the interface of biology, chemistry, engineering, artificial intelligence and medicine.
The institute’s research activities are focused in three main areas:
1) Biomedical Devices & Diagnostics
2) Bioengineering Systems
3) Biophotonics & Bioimaging
IBB collaborates with academic, public-sector, clinical and industry partners to deliver innovative solutions in strategic areas such as cancer, infectious diseases, and food and nutrition.
Besides IBB’s numerous scientific innovations and high-impact publications, IBB’s technologies have been translated and commercialised through more than 10 spin-off companies like Lucence, InvitroCue, Polymore and Respiree.
The institute is staffed by 130 bioengineers, imaging experts, biologists, chemists, physicists, and clinicians and is equipped with state-of-the-art instruments.
