ASTUTE 2020 will collaborate with the High-Value Manufacturing industry across Wales to stimulate transformational & sustainable growth by facilitating and de-risking the development and adoption of advanced technologies, increasing competitiveness and future proofing. 4 Key Principles of ASTUTE 2020 Industry Support ASTUTE 2020 enables greater levels of business innovation in future manufacturing processes by: - Industry demand-led collaborations to de-risk new technologies. - Driving and supporting cutting-edge Research, Development and Innovation - Increasing competitiveness and future proofing - Encouraging stimulation of ideas and challenges to foster knowledge exchange - Harness world-class academic expertise combined with highly qualified researchers and technical experts - Provides unique access to state-of-the-art facilities and experimental equipment - Stimulates growth by applying intelligent systems, advanced techniques and bespoke software. Manufacturing Focus Industry projects focusing on the research challenge with world-class expertise in the areas of: - Advanced Materials Technology - Computational Engineering Modelling - Manufacturing Systems Engineering Collaborative Projects Proposals for collaborative RD&I projects will be developed by the industrial partner together with a dedicated ASTUTE 2020 technical manager and will require approval by an industrial-academic committee before a project can proceed. The ASTUTE 2020 (Advanced Sustainable Manufacturing Technologies) operation led by Swansea University in partnership with Cardiff University, Aberystwyth University, University of South Wales & the University of Wales Trinity Saint David will support industrial Research, Development and Innovation (RD&I) through world-class academics and a team of highly qualified technical experts and project managers. The operation has been part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund through the Welsh Government and the participating Higher Education Institutions.
