About ASU iGEM Team

We are a group of students passionate about synthetic biology and metabolic engineering. We use our knowledge and skills to tackle complex engineering grand challenges. In 2023, the iGEM team is genetically engineering E. coli to bioremediate per- and polyflouoroalkyl substances (PFAS), which are synthetic "forever chemicals" that are known to be carcinogenic and cause endocrine disruptions.
