Asumbi Treatment Centre

Asumbi Treatment Centre is an accredited public health care centre established under Caritas Kenya, Catholic Diocese of Homabay. It is the oldest rehabilitation centre in South Saharan Africa established in 1988 by Turberg Brothers. Asumbi Treatment Centre handles all forms of drug & substance abuse cases. The success rate is 65% of those who enroll in the program and finish successfully without using drugs / alcohol in the centre. Our Vision To realize self-fulfillment and social harmony for all the community members through sharing and caring for each other. Our Mission To continue reaching out to the substance users to create awareness, treatment and rehabilitation where need be and re-integrate them to their communities for a healthy nation. Our Goal The primary goal is to foster personal growth towards self- fulfillment of the individual client through social learning in a community of concerned people working together to help themselves and each other. The treatment goal of the addicted person is to learn to function as a sick person and to be taught step by step, how to function initially as a recovering person and finally as a fully recovered person. Treatment Plan The program runs for a minimum of 3 months fully residential; implemented in three different stages namely: 1. Orientation/ social Detoxification - 2 weeks. 2. Primary Treatment - 8 weeks. 3. Discharge plan - 2 weeks. The 8-week treatment is divided into 2 segments (each segment running for 4 weeks). The first segment focuses on education about addiction and individual acceptance of it, the second deals with recovery and the establishment of a sober life for the individual.
