The Turkish Atlantic Council (Atlantic Treaty Association of Turkey "ATA Turkey") was established in 1957 as the Turkish branch of the Atlantic Treaty Association, which was founded in 1954 upon the recommendation of NATO's Public Diplomacy Division. Our non-profit, private, and independent association quickly accomplished significant achievements as Turkey's geopolitical position gained importance during periods of cold and hot wars; it has become a prestigious institution in matters such as foreign policy and international security.
