It is a reminder to ourselves who live in a modern century but still must perpetually turn to our past to understand our present. Identity : Athari is an Arabic word which means "Tradition" in its technical sense, and in it’s theological terminology it means the one who strictly follows the “Athar”; traditions, actions, narrations, and path of the righteous predecessors. The one who follows such methodology is called an “Athari عَن أبي هُرَيْرَة قَالَ: سَأَلنَا رَسُول الله ﷺ : من خير النَّاس؟❞ ❝قَالَ: أَنا وَمن معي، ثمَّ الَّذين على الْأَثر، ثمَّ الَّذين على الْأَثر (السلسلة الصحيحة ٤٥٥/٤) Abu Hurayrah (R.A) narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked: “Which of the people are best? He ﷺ replied : “Myself and those who are with me (The Companions), then those (after us) who are upon the Athar, then those (after them) who are upon the Athar” (Silsillah al-Saheeha 4/455)
