Tribal Outreach Foundation Overview

The primary issue that our NGO aims to address is the alarming rate of malnutrition and food insecurity and non communicable diseases among tribal communities in India. Despite having access to natural resources that could support a nutritious diet, many tribal populations lack the knowledge and awareness about proper nutrition and healthy eating habits. This gap in understanding contributes significantly to the rising levels of malnutrition, especially among children, in tribal areas. As per the 2011 Census, there are over 100 million tribal people in India, and about 65% of India’s rural population lives in conditions that make them vulnerable to food insecurity and poor nutrition. Tribal populations in states like Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, and Bihar face even greater challenges, with more than 25% of their populations being tribal—much higher than the national average of 8.6%. These regions also suffer from unique healthcare challenges that require targeted, culturally sensitive interventions for better outcomes. Additionally, these states have some of the highest rates of undernourished children, with the tribal community contributing a significant portion to the malnutrition statistics. Our mission is to improve the health, nutrition, and well-being of tribal communities in India by empowering them with the knowledge and resources they need to make informed decisions about food security, nutrition, and healthcare. We aim to bridge the gap between available resources and the awareness of proper nutrition practices, ensuring that every tribal child grows up healthy, well-nourished, and with access to the healthcare they need. Through education, community engagement, and targeted interventions, we strive to reduce malnutrition rates and create sustainable, positive change for these vulnerable populations.
