MT Foundation Overview

The objective of MT Foundation is to implement humanitarian programmes that empower, educate and create opportunities for VULNERABLE children, youth, women, men, LGBTQIA and people with disabilities so as to promote self-reliance. Central to this is advocacy of relevant legal frameworks. Over the years, we have successfully implemented GBV Awareness Programmes, Menstrual Hygiene Awareness, Art and Craft, Food Gardens For Food Security and Career Guidance Initiatives that are aimed at breaking the glass ceiling for women towards accessing opportunities that were stereotypically perceived to be meant for men. Gender-based violence (GBV) programming prioritises women and girls without complete exclusion of men and boys; because women and girls are at greater risk of experiencing certain types of violence due to their subordinate status to men and boys globally. When GBV programmes focus on women and girls, they also remain accountable to feminist principles Our Menstrual health education encompasses broader systemic factors that link menstruation with health, well-being, gender equality, education, equity, empowerment, and rights. Young girls need to understand their bodies and their cycle so as to be aware of GBV related actions on their bodies. Volunteers are trained to educate young girls about periods and talk about them in a shame-free way. We also distribute menstrual hygiene materials to them and teach them how to manage their periods so that they can feel confident and stay in school (not miss school during periods). Our STEM girls programme raises awareness of STEM subjects among girl children, raises girls attainment levels on STEM subject, raises the profile of STEM subjects among girls, enables girls compete in STEM-related competitions and challenges, assists girls to better understand potential careers, increases opportunities to liaise with industry for girls Our women land rights programme raise awareness on issues of women and land rights and women’s access to and control over land resources.
