Atunlo aims to combat the climate change problem in Africa using 3 pillars: Advocacy, Commercialisation and Governance.
1. Advocacy: We run various sensitisation campaigns and decarbonisation programs to raise awareness, promote understanding, and drive for the adoption of circular economy principles and practices among businesses, policymakers, and the general public.
2. Commercialization: We create viable business models and market incentives that promote circularity, such as waste to wealth, waste to education, waste to health insurance, etc.
3. Governance: We partner with policy makers to create policies focused on reducing waste from source, and transforming consumer behaviour to promote responsible consumption
In line with the Sustainable Development Goals, our value proposition focuses on impacting SDGs 1,4,5,8,9,12,13, and 17.
Here are some of our key achievements from launch to date:
- Disbursed over N530m to individuals for the collection of recyclable materials
- Collected >95m PET bottles, with 85% recycled for use in the production of fibre and ropes
- 150T+ of PP plastics collected, with 72% recycled to serve as a raw material for household plastics and nylon production
- Over 309,000 individuals sensitised on sustainable practices
- 5,000+ jobs created within our community with over 50% of women in the workforce, promoting economic growth and social empowerment
