Aberdeen University Commercial Negotiation Society

We’re a passionate student-led society committed to helping law students break into the city, with a focus on law. Our mission is to equip members with the practical skills, negotiation, and commercial awareness essential for success in law and finance. Our primary focus is on negotiation, a core skill for any trainee solicitor. Through regular negotiation practice, we’ll help members build confidence and gain experience. But we’re going further than that. Trainees are expected to perform across a range of competencies, so we’ll also assess key skills such as bundling, due diligence and client relations. Strong negotiation also depends on sharp commercial awareness. For example: how would you settle a supply chain dispute in light of current Trump tariffs? To help members tackle real-world problems like these, we’ll provide opportunities to research and publish commercial awareness blogs, showcasing our members’ knowledge to top firms.
