AUNOHR is considered as a first-of-its-kind university in Lebanon and the region and unique on international level, founded as an independent higher education under the Lebanese law (Ministerial Decree no/487/ date 04.09.2014), with a legacy of 30 years of pioneering experience of its founders Walid Slaybi & Ogarit Younan. جامعة اللاعنف وحقوق الإنسان، مؤسّسة مستقلّة للتعليم العالي في لبنان وللمنطقة العربية، فريدة من نوعها محلياً وعالمياً، تأسّست بمرسوم رقم /487/ في 4/9/2014، مرتكزة على 30 سنة من العمل الريادي الفكري والميداني لمؤسِّسَيها وليد صلَيبي وأوغاريت يونان. The pilot project was launched in 2009, with 2 objectives: high level of academic professionalism & incubator for constructive social change. Institutionalizing and teaching the culture of non-violence, human rights & citizenship, through university innovative majors & new jobs became an existential need and a horizon at all aspects of the society, whereas there is a lack of specialists, civil actors, educators, mediators, and new young cadres. The first 100 students from 6 Arab countries will be graduate in 2017-2018, with Master and Diploma Degree. Majors: NV Education & school management. HR & NV Theater. Teaching Citizenship. Active Training. Conflicts & Mediation. NV Philosophy & Strategy of civil action. Corporate social responsibility & NV. Religions & NV. Media & NV Communication. AUNOHR has also a specialized Center for Active & Academic Training, that provides professional and grassroots training with university certificates. AUNOHR founders are themselves the initiators of this kind of training in Lebanon since early eighties.
