Aurelius Environmental is a waste management and recycling business focusing on lead-acid batteries. In May 2016 the company was granted a license to develop Cambridge University's patented technology for the recycling of lead-acid battery paste.
The process reduces the carbon footprint (of the incumbents) by 85%, eliminates noxious gases (including sulphur dioxide) at no added cost and reduces waste outputs by more than 90%. It also saves money (i.e. cheaper CAPEX and OPEX) and produces a recycled battery-active material which increases the energy and power densities, cycling and charge acceptance of lead batteries.
On 31 May 2020, Aurelius Environmental terminated its license Agreement (for the lead-acid battery recycling technology) with the University of Cambridge.
