Sri Aurobindo College (Evening) is a constituent college of the University of Delhi. It was established in 1984, and opened its doors to women students in 1988. The college is named after the nationalist, reformer and philosopher Sri Aurobindo Ghose. Established on the motto Tamso Ma Jyotirgamaya, translated as ‘Lead me from darkness to light’, the college has grown into a leading educational institution. The college is committed to fulfilling the vision of Sri Aurobindo Ghose by imparting holistic education and knowledge to students for development of the body, mind and soul based on traditional Indian values. We strive to imbue the teaching/learning process with a unique blend of intellectual rigor and aesthetic and ethical engagement. The pedagogical aim is to develop a community of learners driven by excellence and self-actualization, ready and willing to contribute to the community and society.
The college is a NAAC accredited Grade B+ institution. The college has also been placed amongst the top 150 Higher Education Institutions on Performance by the National Institute Ranking Framework (NIRF) of the Ministry for Human Resource Development. With a good score in three broad parameters of Teaching, Learning and Resources, Graduation Outcomes and Outreach and Inclusivity the college has maintained its position for the past three years. It has a present student strength of 2100 and offers courses in Humanities, Social Sciences and Commerce. The college has a digitized library, a career guidance and placement cell, grievance cell and a hygienic canteen.
