Founded in 1989 in Austin, Texas, Austin Divers Supply served Texas divers with quality service to their diving equipment. With the closing of Adventure Sports came the closing of the longest continuously operating full service dive store in Texas, since 1964. Tracy Davenport was the service tech during the 80's, and acquired the tools, fixtures, parts, libraries and records pertaining to the service department. Tracy set up a repair shop, reaching customers by mail, newspaper, DEMA and word of mouth. Soon, local retail stores contracted with Austin Divers Supply to perform repairs on specific pieces. Tracy was known as the guy who "fixed everything" and would "tell you what you have". Later in 1990 Tracy relocated to Florida to accept a management position with the major well-known retail dive chain, Odyssea Scuba Centers. Tracy begain as a staff intructor. Soon, promoted to store manager Orange Park/Jacksonville, FL. Then, general manager of all five stores in Florida. By necessity, Austin Divers Supply scaled back operations, although repairs continued by mail with select long-term customers. 1996-97 Austin Divers Supply (regulator/BC repair division) leapt back to life as one of the two subcontracted repair centers for Divers Outlet, the large multi store chain who had acquired licenses and fixtures from Odyssea (thus solidifing Diver Outlet's position as the largest, by far, in sales and equipment, diving retailer in the United States). Divers Outlet opened their showcase store in Orlando, adding to locations in Key Largo and Homestead. Tracy held his management positions within Divers Outlet that were separate from his part-time repair operations under Austin Divers Supply, and was an opening manager of the International Drive store in Orlando, FL. Then Tracy married Giovanna "Jenny" Storey, and relocated to California, accepting a key position with a major manufacture, American Underwater Products aka Oceanic/Aeris and OEMs Pelagic/ROMI-- And all of the equipment, fixtures, resources and decades of training, displine and knowledge of Austin Divers Supply also traveled to California. A new base and era of operations was established. Subsequently, Tracy's activities within the company focussed on customer service, consultation, systems design, risk management and recall control as liason to legal department and CPSC, domestic and international operations, product development and testing, forecast, inventory accuracy, patent/license management (both collection and payout), and expert testimony when called for.
